Fundamental Data is not backing down! Take action and send your own letter to the Department of Commerce.

Fundamental Data is not backing down. However, if you heard that they had submitted their petition for microgrid certification (one of the next anticipated steps), that report has been corrected (read the full report here). WV HB2014 and 145 CSR 20 created a system for companies to confidentially apply for microgrid certification, eliminating local voice and rights. Hence, Tucker United crafted a letter of community intent (think of this like an anti-application) using the specific requirements for companies submitting their petitions for microgrid certification to provide relevant, evidence-based reasons the Ridgeline Project should not be located next to Davis and Thomas, hoping to submit before Fundamental Data sent their petition. Our letter was received both electronically and via certified mail 3/30/26 and a copy is linked here.

Take Action: write a letter. We need to show the Department of Commerce we’re still in the game: they are not expecting public comment about microgrid certification petitions. Be sure to include your name, address, if you’re a full- or part-time resident (or avid visitor) and a brief overview of why the Ridgeline Project shouldn’t be next to Davis and Thomas. Here are some examples, but please personalize your comment (keep it clean and meaningful):

Send your letter to:

Matt Herridge, Secretary, Department of Commerce
1900 Kanawha BLVD East Bldg 3 Suite 800
Charleston, WV 25305

If you are able to send it via certified mail, even better!
