Ways to Get Involved

For more than five decades, the West Virginia Highlands Conservancy has been at the forefront of the environmental movement in West Virginia—fighting for cleaner air and water, protection of rare and endangered species, sustainable land management practices, conservation and expansion of public lands, and a healthy and livable future in the Mountain State.

Being part of an intentional community dedicated to preserving the environment is incredibly rewarding. There are many ways you can get involved and contribute to our mission to protect and conserve West Virginia’s natural resources for future generations.

Committee work is at the heart of driving the Conservancy initiatives and campaigns forward. The Conservancy encompasses nine volunteer-led committees that engage in research, advocacy, outreach and education on issues affecting the quality of life and the natural environment in West Virginia. Our committees focus on climate change, renewable energy, public lands, legislation, rivers, extractive industries, highway development, planning for the organization’s future, and planning events.
