It is short sighted and morally bankrupt to sacrifice our public lands, air and water quality to attempt to bring back a dying industry that has been a huge polluter and driver of climate change. Yes climate change is real and we are a huge contributing factor. The facts don’t change even if you try to erase all the Data and fire the scientists.

I have looked at the Cherry River Watershed for its potential for restoration. In support of cold water species, especially native trout, our state fish, the brook trout.

I worked with timber companies, local leaders, stakeholders, businesses, and locals generally. All agreed that this river system and the economy of the area would be greatly enhanced by the reachable goal of self sustaining trout populations.
The only chunk in the chain of restoration was the impact of coal mining in the South Fork. With that mine working toward the mutual goal, that Watershed would be an incredible fishery. But it seems impossible to mine coal and transport it without huge negative impacts to the cold water resource.

I would like to see strict consteaints concerning the pollution caused by this mine. I implore the WVDEP to consider the benefit of a world class native trout fishery for generation versus the destruction caused by callous, uninformed, coal operations in an otherwise lucrative economic engine of natural resource destination.

Deny or evidence this permit to avoid destroying others income and future.
